Characteristics of Phylum Angiosperm- Angiosperm is a phylum that found in the classification of plant world. Angiosperm is also called as flowering plant (the other name). An angiosperm definition is a flowering plant that produces a seed enclosed by a fruit. The flower function of angiosperm is to allow the plant to reproduce. Within the flower, the male and female reproductive parts of an angiosperm is located.

The flower of angiosperm have many part (organ). The stamen is  the part of the flower contains the male reproductive parts. The pistil is the part of the flower contains the female reproductive part. In anther (the part of stamen) the pollen produce by the flower. The pollen that produce by the flower stuck to the stigma. The stigma is sticky so the pollen can adhere to the female reproductive part.

The ovary is located in hollow base of the pistil that contains one or more ovules. To be able to attract the attention of pollinators, the flower have some characteristic like bright color petals, the smell is usually sweet, and the shape is fools the male insect. The organism that pollinator for the flowers are bird, insect, and bat. The relationship between the flower and insect named symbiotic relationship, because the flower get benefit that the pollen is transferred to the stigma and the insect get benefit that it’s receives food (nectar) from the flower. The ovary is also the part of the plant develops into a fruit.

This is the cycle of angiosperm. 1) The plant produces a flower. 2) Anther produces pollen grains; Egg is produced in each ovule. 3) The pollen stick to the stigma. 4) The pollen grows a tube to the ovary; Sperm cell moves down the tube to fertilize egg. 5) The ovule develops into the seed. 6) The ovary develops into seeds and fruit. 7) The seed grows into a new plant.

The angiosperm divide by two class, that are monocots (liliopsida) and dicots (magnoliopsida). The monocot has one cotyledon and dicot has two cotiledon. The monocot leaves has veins are parallel and the dicot leaves has veins are braching. The monocot flowers has multiples of three petals on each flower and the dicot flowers has multiple of four or five petals on aech flower.

The monocot has vascular tissue scattered throughout the stem, but the dicot has vascular tissue arrange in ringed bundels. The angiosperm has many benefit like it produce fruits, vegetables, cereals, beans, rubber, hardwood furniture, cotton fibers, maple syrup, etc.
